Jemma wears her heart on her sleeve in her blog about Jay. Her daily excerpts express some frustration, yearning and longing but interwined with those themes is always a sense of hope and continued journeying. The daily blogs are very much in the moment as they savour what it is to connect with an enigmatic hero in her life. Knowing Jemma as I do I can vouch for the resilient and positive thinking individual she is and this is not only reflected in some of the recurrent themes of hope but the way she shares and models that philosophy and solution focus to others. Jay inspires us to want more of Life, go out there and get it. It's what she deserves and knows that it is deserving of others too.

This blog has been written to follow the life of Jay, the main character in my fictional book; Lost and Found: Near or Far... A Modern-Day Love Story: A Whole New World. On a mission to change the world by widening perspectives. We have to keep moving on from every moment in the present, which become the past, and onto the future. Life is what we make of it. It is time to reap the benefits of all that has been sown and go forth to a beautiful life, surrounded by my kinds of loving, caring, thoughtful individuals. On with the show. Into the light.

It's a love story that captures the very essence of an electrifying connection that liberates the world. In the twenty-first century. Now is the time to use what knowledge we have to make a difference, to live differently. To flourish. To embrace the present, in these current circumstances is to live our lives to the best of our abilities, using what we know, the talents we have, the gifts we bear and the belief that the world will recover and be saved.

Before I began writing this book in 2001, I was in what I call; 'my old life'. I was in my early twenties. I only had an inkling that I wanted to write a book, mainly about the way society was at that time and the way people were. I had experienced a lot of hardships, heartache, heartbreak, unfairness, unhappiness and sadness in my teens. Purely because I was surrounded by dream snatchers, those prepared to steal my dreams. I was shy, vulnerable and wanting to have the confidence. I had met my then husband in 1996 and he had helped to brighten my outlook on life and I was happier than I ever had been before.

One day, I said simply, 'I'm going to write a book'. These were the words I uttered to my then husband, Plie. This comment was made after another unwanted, frustrating, annoying and upsetting episode had happened and entered my life, spoiling every chance of making what I perceived and believed... A reality come true for the benefit of those who were not witness to my needs or those who had turned a blind eye. I wasn't to know that, our relationship after marriage to him was to be short-lived. Names have been changed to protect identities and connections are made to real-life persons or situations, if only to help and support others, going through the same, to aid them in their recovery. No ill intentions have been made by such references to events that over the years, have added to my down fall, which has led me to where I am today. So, I can guide you,

At the time, I felt I needed to document the effects it all had on me for proof of it ever happening. I was 23. I had been with Plie since I was 18. Too young to settle down, I know but I was in love and happy at the time. Life had just kept dealing me situations that I found really annoying and upsetting. I had not been brought up to believe that life would be like this. As time passed and I moved on from all of that, the damage that had occurred was sewn into my insides and later on in life, over a decade of my life has been wiped out of my memory, never to revisit again. Those memories of the hard, stressful, pressured times, I can't recall. My memory blitzed. The only memories I have left are those that are documented in this book and the photographs that lie scattered around in numerous photo albums. I dare not revisit unless they are the happier times, which were very few and far between. This is the story of how it all began. From 2002 - 2021 with snap shots of my life prior to then from my birth in 1977 until 2001 inclusive. My first 43 years. I hope you can learn from what is written in this book and discover ways to overcome difficulties and hardships to lead a better life, blessed with love and blessings from the Author.

Solution focused and ever-present, giving strength. Frustration turns into a gateway for happiness and human desire.

It is a story about a young girl who transformed her whole life, orchestrating exactly what she wanted in her life. Quoting from the film 'Shadowlands', about the relationship of C. S. Lewis and Joy Davidson; a former Oxbridge Student asked C.S. Lewis to comment on the phrase. 'We read to know, we are not alone'. In a similar way, I write to know, I am not alone. As a Mental Health Survivor, my experience of the label of Schizophrenia has placed barriers between me and my peers, my family, my colleagues and my community. Writing poetry is a way of not only breaking down barriers but the way of connecting with others and their common humanity. Poetry is a good vehicle for this, because it doesn't always join the dots for people but expresses enough to validate, affirm, share and sometimes, challenge other people's experiences. I developed interest in writing due to past incidents, also to be a source of knowledge to others and to reach out to millions of people who also have similar stories, telling them never to look down or judge themselves but rather to keep having hope, confidence and to encourage them in taking good advantage of their mistakes, so as to reshape them for good in the future.

Written at a 'fork in the road', 'turning point' of my life, timely observations, experiences and conversations are captured and adapted in these verses and lines, which are full of integrity and realism. To tell it like it is. These are the most graphically aligned poems that I have ever written historically to date and furthermore, they are as explosive as dynamite with the aim to shake up and wake up a nation, to instigate global change. To do things a different way for the good of the common people, the citizens.

The words are portrayed soulfully and are based on personal, and worldly experiences, in a dedicated rhythmic dance with beauty, fluency, expressing the mirrored feelings and reactions in an attempt to provide answers to lifes many twisted and confusing episodes. I embrace the upper-hand to take control of what is often over-looked, finding strength in the creation and dedication. These are my words. This is a very touching, insightful and vivid collection of poems commemorating the life of Geraldine, the author's wife, who suffered much from mental illness, and whose struggles we can all learn from, described in spare, unsentimental lines of poetry by Philip Hill.

The poems chart Geraldine's life from the time she and Philip met, through their growing relationship, through some of the challenges of their twenty-year marriage and Geraldine's eventual tragic death, too young.

I found many of the poems very touching and poignant, some heart-breaking, and others give real insight into how it feels to go through the ill health that Geraldine suffered, with such distressing experiences as panic attacks and obsessive eating binges.

Yet within the poems there are flashes of humour, in the poet's sharp observations of daily life. His admiration and love for Geraldine shines through. Highly recommended to all those who like the "Own Voice" genre of literature, and who value poems which shine a light on areas of life many find fearful to contemplate or would prefer to avoid. If we have never suffered as Geraldine did, we can count ourselves blessed, and we can learn from reading of her brave life.
